We're off to a romantic weekend at Sandy Cove with a bunch of couples from our church. I can't remember when Stan and I have gone somewhere alone for the weekend. Or maybe I can...1994 or 95...Washington D.C....Maybe it hasn't been that long.

My sister and parents are taking care of the kids. Seth has a "singer/songwriter show" tonight, opening for a talented musician from Pennsylvania. We just helped buy him an acoustic/electric guitar on his birthday, for this show and the praise team every Sunday. The guy who sold us the guitar, who also sold us his electric guitar, watched Seth tryout the only left-handed guitar they had and asked him if he was playing his own stuff. After a while he turned to me in the store and asked, "How old is he? How'd he get this gig? ... Wow." And I'm standing there asking myself, "How'd this little challenge of mine begin to become a tall mentor of mine?" I guess that's what our kids do in the end, teach us something about life and love.

This weekend he also has a 3 game soccer tournament, Luke has basketball, there's two church services, Sunday school, carting guitars and amps hither and yon....
but we'll be at that aforementioned lovely quiet couples retreat!

I'll leave a wonderful love quote of Mother Teresa, it's one of my favorite reminders:

We cannot do great things on this Earth, only small things with great love.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend too!

Well, don't go off feeling all guilty about leaving the kids behind. Just go off...

Have a good time!
