Here's A Face I Won't Soon Forget
It's not very often that you get to meet a relative you haven't met before. I do have a new great nephew I haven't met yet because of distance, but this week I got to meet one second cousin (a daughter of my first cousin, am I right?) and re-meet her sister who I met only briefly at my uncle's funeral a few years ago.
Sean enjoyed having his cousins sleep over and play. At one point he came up from the basement and told us, "I'm playing with my cousins and I'm being very gentle because they're so small." All the boys had a special Thanksgiving with their new buddies, but my niece...oh, my niece...she's been the only girl in the family and has to constantly deal with this....
so she was quite excited to have girls...
she attached herself to them and did not let go....
I wouldn't be surprised if she smuggled herself in the trunk of their car and is somewhere in Ohio by now. They loved her too. Every time she walked into the room, they exclaimed, "There's that little girl!"
Here, I thought she'd surrounded them with protective cones to secure her cousins, but it turns out she set up a camp to prepare them to war against the unsuspecting boys behind them playing soccer. I guess she figured she finally had a chance with more girls on her side.
The only reason she let go of them here is that I asked them to line up in order from biggest to smallest. As you can tell, someone over there on the right didn't want to.
After the girls left, my niece came up to hug me, looked up at me with her teary eyes and said, "Aunt Jennie I miss them already."
It was a great Thanksgiving and we love our little cousins.
