Boys in the Field
I can't have enough pictures of my kids in Pop Pop's field. All of us grandchildren have very special memories of this field. We had to be very careful unless it was the fall or winter when Pop Pop had planted his cover crop, often rye. Then we were free to run and play there. Otherwise, this field and two others on the property were meticulously planted and kept with every edible plant known to man. Asparagus, strawberries, limas, peas, cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, apples, zucchini, squash, pumpkins, corn, peanuts even...
Later, his vegetable garden shrunk down to one corner and he began growing boxwood and spruce. Now most of the boxwood are dead.
But it still draws the kids.
There's something special about it, that's for sure.
